SustainabilityIn this day and age, sustainability is the major challenge facing all aspects of society, including the business sector. Consequently, companies show a definite preference for ‘green’ and environmentally sustainable business premises.
New developments are obviously eminently suited to realize ‘green’ ambitions. However, it is absolutely possible to incorporate the same focus on sustainability in redevelopment projects, as is evidenced by Kroonenberg Groep in their Amsterdam project The Bank. The redevelopment of The Bank uses predominantly environmentally sustainable materials, such as high performance insulating glass and various types of natural stone. The focus on energy conservation is expressed in systems including the cold and heat storage system underneath the building, and the daylight-dependent lighting system that is used here. All these efforts demonstrate the fact that Kroonenberg Groep is fully inspired by the ‘green vision’. Moreover, these measures result in a significant reduction in energy costs for the users.
